stay away from the island...far, far away
We had a choice between waiting for an hour to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" or a few minutes to see "The Island"
+ The ads made it sound like an interesting premise
+ I like scifi
= Why not?

Because...
- Bad product placement - It's a 2 hour commercial for MSN Search, Michelob Light, Puma, U.S. Bank, Aquafina, etc. etc. etc. Not only do we see "MSN Search" looking a lot like Google; we're seeing it as the only open window on a 20 x 40 foot digital display.
- Bad acting - perhaps all of the product placements were too distracting (i.e., "do I really want to be in sales?")
- Bad script - "Logan's Run" was good the first time. If "The Island" had made one change (clones instead of population control) it might have been an interesting flick. Instead, gratuitous action, kissing, and advertising made us walk out early. Which says a lot -- my husband is *easily* entertained.
